Electric Scooter Training:

Do you live in London? Have you seen e-scooters around town? Would you like to give one a try, but perhaps are a little apprehensive? Well, at ScooTours, we’re all about promoting the safe use of e-scooters.

We are now offering community training sessions with our e-scooter partner Dott. Every training session is free to attend and you will be provided with a free Dott helmet. These training sessions are designed for beginners and first-time users. They serve as a great introduction to e-scooters and will provide the experience of using one alongside other road users.

Training Offered In Partnership With Dott:

All of our London e-scooter training sessions are run in partnership with Dott, a leading e-scooter rental company operating in 17 cities throughout Europe. Your trainer and Dott e-scooter will be waiting for you at the start location. We will also provide every customer with a helmet, that they can take home after the session.

You will need to access your e-scooter at the start of the training via the Dott App. We will provide every customer with an exclusive promo code that allows you to unlock and use an e-scooter for free for the duration of the training!

For more details on our e-scooters and how to download the Dott App, see “Additional Information” below …

What To Expect:

The training will begin in Circus Place, next to Finsbury Circus (opposite Liverpool Street Station) (view on map).

Our training sessions are designed to teach you two things; how to operate an e-scooter safely and how to use one safely on the road. Each training session will consist of two parts.

We will begin with an in-depth safety tutorial and a lesson on how to ride an e-scooter. Every participant will then be given time to practice in a quiet and safe space.

This will be followed by a guided scoot around London, which will feature a variety of different road types. This route has been designed to use scooter-friendly roads and plenty of cycle lanes. By the end of the session, each customer will have a better understanding of how an e-scooter works and will gain experience in using one safely amongst other road users.

These sessions will last 1 hour and are offered every week throughout the summer. Once a month we will be offering a women-only session.

Once you have completed your training, why not consider one of our e-scooter tours? Or, consider pairing up a morning training session with an afternoon tour. All of our tours are designed to show you London in a new light. We offer excellent sightseeing tours, such as our City of London E-Scooter Tour, as well as more unique experiences like our Hidden London E-Scooter TourWe also offer a collection of Private Tours if you’re planning a special event or team-building activity.

Have any questions? Feel free to get in touch. We can easily be reached at [email protected].

Additional Information:

E-Scooter Rental Explained:

You will need to rent your e-scooter on the day of the training session via the Dott App. This can be done when you arrive at the start location. More details are provided below.

E-Scooters are normally rented on a price-per-minute system. However, for our training sessions, all e-scooter rental is free. On the day of the session, your trainer will provide a promo code that will allow you to access an e-scooter for the whole training session for free.

Your trainer will be on hand to help you un-lock your e-scooter and input the correct promo code.

Downloading the Dott App:

Ahead of the training, you will need to download and set up an account on the Dott App. Please ensure your account has up-to-date payment information. We advise all our customers to input the relevant debit or credit card information before arriving for the training. Although you will not be charged on the day of your session, you need to complete this step to finalise your Dott account.

You will need to use the app to unlock your e-scooter at the start of the training, then lock the e-scooter at the end of the training. Therefore, please ensure your phone has a reasonable battery charge.

All necessary information, including a link to the App Store and Play Store, will be included in your booking confirmation email!

Age Restrictions / Requirements:

For all of our electric scooter training sessions and tours, the minimum age requirement is 18 years old.

In addition, you must be in possession of one of the following:

  • A valid provisional or full UK driving licence.
  • A valid full licence from an EU or European Economic Area (EEA) country.
  • A valid full licence from another country that entitles you to drive a small vehicle in the U.K.

If you are unsure whether your driving license is applicable, then check this government link: “Gov.uk – E-Scooter Trials: Guidance for Users.”

When you first access a Dott e-scooter you will be asked to verify your identity, therefore you must bring your driving license along on the day of your training. You will need to scan your license via the Dott app, therefore you must bring the plastic photo-ID version of your license, not the paper counterpart.

If you do not bring your license, we cannot guarantee you will be able to access an e-scooter.
